3 Reasons Why You Should Get Certified
I was once asked, “Why should I get certified?”
To be honest, I was awed. It never dawned on me that it did not matter to some people to not get certified. I grew up in a household where education was not a question AND the more you knew, the better. It did not take me long to answer the question, because it was simple:
Certificates reduce liability.
When receiving services from people, I have always wanted to go to someone who knows what they’re doing. For example, when I drove a Chrysler 300, I was not taking it to the same place that I had taken my previous car, a Dodge Neon, because it was a luxury vehicle. I would not dare take it to someone to tinker around with, messing it up, then I’m either out of a car or end up paying thousands of dollars to get it fixed. Someone who is certified in working on Chrysler vehicles is less likely to damage it and I can have peace of mind knowing that my car will last me longer.
Certificates show knowledge.
Some professionals will never be asked, “How do you know?” It is assumed they know what they know, because they work for an employer. However, as a hairstylist, my knowledge has been tested over the years. I’m not going to lie, my face usually looks something like this:

If you want to know more, you can go to my About page on my salon’s page to get a more detailed description of who I am. Although in the past, I have been appalled by the question, I fully understand most people are just anxious and want to make sure they are investing their money in the right person. Unfortunately, we have all been screwed over by someone who says they can and can’t.
Now my last and FAVORITE reason why you should get certified is - can you guess it?
You’re probably saying this…

Money, moolah, cash, paper, yen, coins, whatever you call it, we love it and in an abundance. Like this blog post, I closed out the question with this as my final answer. Although certificates and degrees only matter to people who care, they are still needed to have more earning potential. Period.
